Dear Residents,
It has been announced that
there will be a protest march with significant traffic implications this
Thursday, 8/2. The march will start at 4 pm in the northbound lanes of
Lake Shore Drive at Diversey Parkway and go north to Belmont, then west on Belmont
to Clark and proceed to Wrigley Field. For a diagram of the protest
route, please visit http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-biz-lsd-protest-alternatives-20180730-story.html# .
Arterial streets that run
parallel to Lake Shore Drive and Clark and would not pass through the protest
area include Ashland, Damen, Lincoln and Western avenues. Halsted Street
should be avoided south of Irving Park Road and north of Diversey because it
intersects with Clark and Belmont in the protest area. Keep in mind that
several bus routes (including the 147 Outer Drive Express, the 22 Clark and the
77 Belmont) will be affected, as well.
This event, in conjunction
with other events throughout the City of Chicago such as Lollapalooza, will
create significant traffic issues throughout a large part of the city.
Please be safe, and plan forextra traveling time if your commute is near this route.
